The fate of Marc Dreier, the once respected Manhattan litigator, provides a timely parable. In the 1990s, Dreier co-headed the litigation department at Fulbright & Jaworski, but he wanted more, so quit and founded his own firm: Dreier LLP, which grew to 250 lawyers, in little over a decade.
