Jürg Borer is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's Zurich office and he heads the firm’s Competition Group. His main areas of practice are Swiss and European competition law, communication law, and energy law. As a leading expert in competition law, he regularly advises clients in high-profile competition investigations and merger control proceedings as well as in competition law matters in civil courts.
A graduate of the University of St. Gallen (first degree 1982; doctorate 1988), he was admitted to the Swiss bar in 1990. He began his career as a legal secretary with the Swiss Federal Supreme Court in Lausanne and conducted legal research work at the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg, Germany. Prior to joining Schellenberg in 2006, he worked as an associate in a London and then a Zurich law firm and became a partner in another large business law firm in Zurich.
Jürg Borer is a lecturer at the University of Zurich and the University of Lucerne and has authored several publications on Swiss and European competition law, including a commentary on the Swiss Federal Act on Cartels.
